Denied for Name Mismatch Despite Matching English Name on Document and Profile

Hi everyone,

I am a faculty member from South Korea, and I’m seeking assistance with my GitHub Education application, which has been repeatedly denied due to "name mismatch" errors.

The Issue:
My application was denied on March 03, 2026, with reasons stating that my name on the academic document does not match my GitHub billing information and public profile.

What I Have Done:

Matched Information: I have set both my Billing Information and Public Profile Name to match the exact English name shown on my document (First Name: [My First Name], Last Name: [My Last Name]).

Documentation: I submitted an official Personnel Record (Employment Certificate) that explicitly includes my name in English.

Process: I followed the instructions to log out and log back in after updating my profile before re-applying.

My Specific Concerns & Suspicions:

OCR Interference: My official document contains my name in Korean characters in several places (e.g., "Issuer" and "Name" sections) alongside the English translation. Is it possible the automated OCR system is picking up the Korean characters instead of the English name?

Case Sensitivity: The document lists my name in Title Case (e.g., John Doe). I have mirrored this capitalization exactly in my profile, but I'm wondering if the system requires all caps or a specific "Last Name, First Name" format for international documents.

Translation Layout: I provided the original document with English labels added for clarity. Could this layout be confusing the verification bot?

Questions:

Is there a way to request a manual review since my document clearly contains the matching English name?

Should I redact (black out) the Korean version of my name to help the OCR focus only on the English text?

Has anyone else from Korea encountered this issue with the "Personnel Record" (개인인사기록) format?

I have ensured that the names match perfectly across all fields, so any guidance on how to bypass this automated loop would be greatly appreciated.
